they say that it’s christmas….

24 Dec

well lookie there.  a tree.  not my big tree but a skinny little guy.  and it’s beautiful.  simply decorated with sparkly balls and button snowflakes.  we decided against the big tree due to 4 busy hands and 8 freaking dog paws.

not a creature was stirring, not even a nana.

you probably can’t quite see it but i think there is a line of drool slipping out of the right side of my mouth.  i haven’t been this tired in 12 years.  i think this was taken after being on the run for 32 or so hours.  yeah, it’s a horrible picture and i can’t even care.  🙂

the stockings were hung by the chimney with care…

or not.  maybe they’re hung underneath all the electronics..tv, dvd, wii, vcr…..you know the stuff that goes by “initials”.  we don’t have a chimney.  well i suppose we do, but it’s not stocking worthy.  and where oh where are the homemade from recycled wool sweater stockings you ask?  they are not here.  they are not done.  these adorable reindeer stockings were purchased (as in NOT made by me) at pier 1 import.  and i’m FINE with it.

and on the eve of christmas eve, i braved the aisles of the grocery store in the early am.  what are all these people doing here?  don’t they have jobs?  i snagged the last package of almond bark (does it really matter that i left another shopper crying and whining on the floor?) and the biggest bag of sugar i’ve ever seen.

candy canes turned into hearts filled with goodness.

and candy cane reindeer.  what was i thinking?  these little bastards cuties should not be attempted by anyone under the age of 30.  maybe 60.  we unwrapped 25 canes.  we made 4 reindeer.  and it was a struggle.

the hearts were worth it.  look at that smile.  and they are do-able.  thanks jannell (at artteajannell.blogspot.com) for the idea.

so, some candy cane hearts and reindeer, a batch of tumbleweeds, 4 batches of fudge, a batch of reindeer munch,  2 ice cream desserts, a roast and smashed potatoes and the kitchen is closed.  not even a drink of water shall be had.  just kidding but for crying in the soup will ya use a paper plate?!?!?!

and now it’s time to say goodnight PARTY!  merry christmas to each of you. enjoy your blessings whatever they may be!
