it’s not a treat

13 Sep

yet…….but i think it’s gonna be!

it started like this:

and that wasn’t even half of the cutting.  the cutting took HOURS!  once the blues, creams and browns were cut, then i laid out 20 blocks that would be a horizontal row.  and i did that 25 more times making 20 piles of 26 blocks.  i lost track of the number of hours this prepping took.  probably a good thing  martha.

and then i got to spend the weekend at a quilt retreat with 30+ other qulters.  as chris worked on and finished 9 projects (mostly christmas gifts) and karen hammered out 5 projects (baby, butterflies, kaffe), and sherie nestled thimbles and made 4 beach bags,    i made 9 patches.  52 hours of making 9 patches.  little 9 patches.  3.5 inch 9 patches.  but i’m not complaining because LOOK:

this is 1/4 of the quilt.  i won’t bore you with my continued progress on it. but while i finish piecing it, you put  your thinking caps on for some quilting suggestions!  yeah, i know, i’m a long way from the quilting progress, but i don’t think this one is going to get stuck in the “quilt it when i have time” pile.  🙂
