happy may day!

1 May

so yesterday the boys and i raced around like wild animals delivering may day baskets that we’d made. it wasn’t until the last one that we were told it wasn’t may yet. sigh, nana needs a keeper. oh well, and i had good intentions of taking loads of pictures of the delivering but after unbuckling 2 squirmy wormys and trying to help them NOT spill, and NOT eat the basket contents, well i just plain forgot about the camera except for one time….bad nana. anyhoo, here are some pix before we got started:

i stumbled across a high school classmate’s blog one day when searching for art projects: jannell had a posting around easter time about making baskets from egg cartons. since we were past easter by then, i used the same idea but made it smaller for may day baskets. HERE!

ian enjoyed the painting more so than kaiden…..he moved onto to other stuff (toys) before long.

and here we are filling the baskets (and eating some of the goodies too!):

and  close ups of their work:

and here we are with a delivery attempt.  i say “attempt” because the one time i remembered to pull out my camera, our recipient wasn’t home.   so after knocking and then hiding behind the truck, we ended up having to leave the basket inside her door!

nana was toast after all that in and out, buckle up, buckle down, but that wasn’t the end of our day.  “no sir “eee” bob” (as the boys would say).  it wasn’t even lunch time…….more later, i think i need a nap now.

Mr. W had never heard of May Day Baskets until I was telling him about it yesterday. I remember doing May baskets when we were kids. Word to the wise….food coloring doesn’t work to make colored popcorn.

That looks like a lot of fun. These little guys are going to have some fun memories of their times with Nana. Grands are the best. All the love and none of the responsibility.
