unexpected kindness

i have been a very lucky girl in my life as i’ve been showered with kindness at times.  i hope i have “paid it forward” in one way or another.

i was hesitant to write about the kindnesses that have been shown to me for fear that i would leave some gesture out-not because it wasn’t special or meaningful…..just because well….this is only a half hour show.  and then i remembered a kindness that is kinda “special” because i don’t know who to thank for it.

11 years ago, my daughter crystal had a severe car accident.  i left my home to go to work one monday morning and did not step foot back in my house for over 6 weeks.  during that time so many many kindnesses were done for us.

however, no-one has ever owned up to one particular kindness.  when i did get home 6 weeks later, i opened my refrigerator fearing the worst.  you know, green fuzzy stuff growing on leftovers, spoiled milk and other dairy products etc.

not only did i not find that.  i found a fully and freshly stocked refrigerator.  fresh milk.  fresh fruit.  ice cold diet coke.  frosty cold beer.  cleaned veggies.  and chocolate.

now, the nicest thing about that nice thing is that i don’t know who to thank.  so i attribute this very kind gesture to everyone i know (well almost everyone.  there are some people you just KNOW wouldn’t think to do something like that!).  so
