oh my.

in 1978 on november 18, scott and i got married. it was a simple affair especially compared to the wedding extravaganzas these days. i wore my mother’s wedding dress. scott and i each had 1 attendant. we were required to memorize the entire “vow” and say it without prompts from pastor bob. we had cake and ham sandwiches afterwards in the church basement. no professional photographer. just my sister, kris, and scott’s brother, tom, taking photos. i remember my grama lola saying i looked like a barbie doll-dressing up like a grown up. it wasn’t a compliment. i chose to ignore it. i hated my hair. my new shoes hurt my feet. i was nervous.

that was 31 years ago.

back about 11 months ago, mom’s christmas gift to scott and i was a couple boxes of slides. slides of the pictures my sister kris took of me for senior pictures and of my wedding. it was one of my favorite gifts last year. i intended to have the slides transferred to a cd someday.

my daughter, carin, did it for me. and then sent the cd home with kris to australia. kris put together a beautiful album from the photos she’d taken when she was 19. over 30 years ago.

kris did some really cool stuff with some of the pictures. sort of distressed them:

you can’t tell here, but the pages are beautiful. a very heavy elegant paper. more elegant than the individuals on it.

it’s also pretty hard to tell in these pictures of pictures but mom’s wedding dress was beautiful.

this is one of my favorite shots. our dad’s. i wonder what they were talking about.

last photo in the book. beautifully distressed. i can almost here the bells ringing.

i can’t even find the words to say thank you to these three special women. mom, kris and carin. i love you to the moon.
