how do you say

27 Sep

one of the things kris and i did for fun while she was here was to take a class at the lqs Heirloom creations. the class was to make a “ruffle playdate skirt” by bridget & lucy. you can check out their website at Since kris came to visit without her sewing supplies, we tag teamed the sewing. i dug out a delicious little corduroy print from my stash, picked up some coordinating ribbon and tulle and we got busy! by the end of a 3 hour class, we had 2 skirts completely done. the bodies of 3 skirts done and the ruffles and tulle ready to sew on. not bad! and they are soooo easy to make you guys!

the designers are a mom and daughter team and are quilters. so they have developed and written these patterns so that the average quilter can sew it. even “I” can make one (or a dozen).

so since i have no little girls to wear skirts, i made skirts for my niece jess’s 3 little darlings and my nephew jason’s 2 little pixies.

here they are…..the skirts not the girls as i have to mail off 3 of the skirts. hopefully the moms will snap some pix for me with the girls wearing them.

skirts1 it was supposed to just be skirts, but i found these yummy little winter weight tights and they fell in my cart. luckily they were the right sizes. the shirts fell in  too! the brown shirt set is for Sydney and the turquoise one is for Alex.

skirts2 the dark pink shirt set is for Libby, the shirtless set is for Courtney and the light pink set is for Gabby. somehow a purple shirt got in my cart…it will fit Courtney but there is no purple in the skirt so i’ll have to replace it with a pink shirt.

i repeat STINKIN’ CUTE. and ridiculously easy to assemble.

thanks a ton to kris for the fun time and for your expertise in assembling the skirts.

if you are interested, heirloom creations has another skirt class on the agenda.  it’s a new pattern called “ruffle joy”

the bridget and lucy gals have ready to wear items on their website too if you’re short on time.

there you have it!  one item checked off my to-do list!
