pink and brown

10 Nov

i’m still waiting on a couple pix that are on my daughter’s camera but guess i’ll have to go with the pix i’ve got. i used up the entire battery in my camera on halloween pix, so could not take any during the pink and brown weekend itself.

karen is the hostess with the mostess. from the minute i stepped into the house, it was all about pampering me. how nice! when i went to bed, i wished upon a star that i lived there. but i don’t so i just soaked up all the niceness while i was there!

after the trick or treaters left, we shared a yummy bowl of chili with the boys and then kicked them back to my house so they could get up early (3 am) and go hunting. karen and i stayed up late into the night and sewed on our respective pink and brown quilts. when i went to set up my machine, i found a little pile of goodies beside my “station”. there was a pink and brown candle, neopolitan candies (pink and brown and white) and a couple yummy carmels. on saturday morning there was another pile of goodies! this time it was a 4 pack of chocolate bon bons, some little chocolate mints in a tin, and a bag with hot chocolate and peppermint bark candy. and naturally there was ANOTHER pile on sunday morning. this time it was a bag of “brown sugar” scented lotion and perfume (my current fave). so this is a pic of all the “piles” of goodies:

also in that pic, but here’s a couple close ups, are a postcard which invited me to the weekend and then an ATC which karen then suggested we always exchange atc’s when we have a quilting weekend (she could have given me a heads up huh!?!) karen made these using the left over pinks and browns from the quilt she was working on.

and omgosh for snacks. we had chocolate chip cookies, turds (no bake chocolate cookies), coconut cake, crunchies and these were served on pink plates with the brown napkins with pink polka dots. 🙂

the table was set with a pink table cloth and cloth napkins/place mats that she made (simple no fuss but such a nice touch!), there was a PINK mug at our place settings filled with chocolate toffee. and a beautiful little floral arrangement full of pink blooms. hopefully, i will be getting a picture of this before i post this! later in the weekend, we drank hot cocoa out of our pink mugs.

we capped off the sewing on saturday night with a glass of champagne and watching saturday night live. and then we went back to work as the boys had gotten all 4 of their deer by 10:30 am and were planning to head back home in the morning-we told them that was ok as long as they left right away to go kill something else!  we sewed until 4:00ish am (the ish is because my eyes were a bit blurry!) as with the night before, when i got up to my bed, i found a pair of new jammie pants and another trinket. a little pink bag (with brown trim) filled with little pots and bottles of yummy smelling lotions, bath sprinkles etc. this is both pants and the little bag:  by 7:30 am karen was waking me up.  but i wanna stay in bed!!!

i’m sure i’ve missed things. there was simply too too much. i loved the quilting weekend and felt very special. the boys go hunting again next april (well, they’ll hunt lots in between, but that is our next “retreat”) and it’s my turn to hostess. i can’t compete with karen so i’m not even gonna try. but the wheel’s they are a’turnin’ ! our “theme” for april is embroidery as we both have projects we’re wanting to get to. on one hand, i can’t wait for april, on the other…..i’ve got a lot of crap to get done so i better get started!

ps……too funny. i wrote this whole post and never once mentioned our progress on our pink and brown projects! karen of course got all her blocks done (perfectly i might add). i still have 10 blocks to do and then need to steam the heck out of them to get them square. oh well…’s the journey not the destination right? i’m heading back to karen’s this weekend for more fun (no retreat goodies though) so hope to finish up my blocks so i can at least show a pic of them layed out. i’m sure by now, karen has her’s all sewn together. i still really really like her.

Guess I’d better quit watching TV on this icy, no school day and get as productive as you two. Wow! I love the brown & pink…what a great theme. You girls are too creative!
