strange bedfellows

7 Jul

how late-night comedy turns democracy into a joke by russell l peterson.

and while yes, the last name is very common, in this case i am related to the author by marriage (and this is one in-law i willingly claim!). russell (or rusty as he is fondly called around here) is scott’s cousin. so anyway he wrote a book.

he is also an artist and illustrated the cover.

so i have to admit i have not had a chance to read it yet. hey! give me a break, i just got it saturday when russ had a book signing/author talk at one of my favorite stores, zandbros and then the holiday etc. i’ve skimmed it and i looked at the few pictures in it (okay i live in kid-land and pictures are a big part of the books i read daily!) and the topic, political satire, is far from my usual topic which ranges from walter the farting dog to the history of john deere tractors. so anyhoo, what i am getting around to saying is that this cousin of scott’s is a dang smart guy. the passages i have read are well written (what do i expect from a man with a PhD, h-e-l-l-o kay!) fine what i’m saying is that it’s thoughtful and definitely has a point but remains totally understandable to the average person who’s biggest daily challenge is asking a 2 year old if they need to go potty 37 times an hour. and in that situation, i ask you, who is getting potty trained here, the child or the adult?!?!? i digress.

so anyway, i’m totally recommending that you dash out and find a copy of this book immediately (drop the peanut butter topped english muffin now!) …the topic is relevant and intriguing, the 243 pages do-able, and besides, i like rusty.

my favorite part….hillary is in PINK jammies with PINK fuzzy slippers on the cover!
