yea! i made a decision

28 May

so we’re pretty casual around here. i have an old trestle table that i bought at an antique shop 20 years ago. it’s beautiful (to me) (when it doesn’t have crap sitting on it). this is a shot of it set for easter breakfast you can see that i have bench on one side and mishmash of chairs on the other and at the ends. i love the mishmash of not having matchy stuff but the chairs are falling apart and have been FOR YEARS. so i’ve been on the hunt for new chairs. not working real hard at it because i don’t enjoy shopping (unless it’s for fabric!). finally my daughter said “your mother’s day gift is chairs, so go pick some out”. since the table is antique i wanted something real simple almost primitive but sturdy. i went to a wonderful furniture shop…..to die for furniture. several options would work. except that the least expensive option i chose was almost $500 per chair. okay, that would last forever i know (especially since we only sit at the table to eat maybe half a dozen times a year) but i just couldn’t do it.

so carin pushed me again and drug me to “world market” and i found the perfect chair. thick, sturdy, pretty close in color, simple. just perfect and WHAT HO?!?! on sale. not $500. not even $300. it’s was $120 and then 50% off! well hello dolly, i have a chair. not so fast, the chairs are on close out as they are discontinued. they only had 2. bummer.

yesterday i pursued it again, thinking maybe i got bad information. talked to a different clerk but got the same info. then i asked it any nearby stores might have some. i really just need 5 chairs….3 on the side, 1 on each end. yea for me. the store that happens to be in the town where my sil lives, has 5 chairs and they are also on clearance at that store!! so i bought the 2 that my store had, and put 4 on hold at the other store. am thinking i’ll get all 5 though….yea, i’m greedy now that i got such a bargain!

i don’t have all the chairs, but here’s a pic of one that i do have. i love it. happy mother’s day to me! i got good kids! now i have to drive to a different state to pick up the rest of the chairs!

Wahoo! Great find, will go perfect with the table! Nothing better than getting a great deal, too.

I purchase a “distressed” looking dining room table when we moved 3 yrs ago. Thought I was doing it because of the kids but guess who put the first major gouge in the table. Yep, ME! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Good thing I like things that look “loved”. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Enjoy your new chairs! Sounds like time for a big family dinner. 8)
