jeepers! it’s thursday thumper already!

31 Jan

i guess i have to thump myself. it’s obvious through my stats that you people don’t come here unless i post something. ya think?!?!

i seem to be waiting for something……not sure what it is, maybe pictures, or to have something interesting happen to me……hmmmm

alas, it hasn’t happened so i’ll just blog about the usual.

the quilting retreat was fantab. really enjoyed the fun and laughter. my little pod of peeps decided that next year we are taking the BIG truck (this year we crammed everything into an explorer sport track) plans for next year include piling our chairs into nelson’s ford 450 truck. now i drive a truck…..not my choice but scott gets to pick the vehicles (it’s the boy/girl responsibilities/benefits… i got to pick the human names and he got to pick the animal names and thank goodness or we’d have had children named “panther” or “skitter”) anyhoo, my truck is a fullsize ford 150. and it’s big enough that i only park when i can pull straight in. but compared to this mother of a truck, my truck is puny! let me tell you, this ford 450 truck is a MONSTER. i’m surprised they don’t have to make special lanes for it to drive in. since i drive using “the force” it would definitely NOT be a good thing martha for me.

is that a MONSTER or what. plenty of room for chairs. never mind that it will only get 5 mpg. oh what fun. i’m looking forward to next year already!

so this year i started off a little shaky. remember how smug i was that i had my projects all ready…well not so much. the first one i started, i found i did not pack enough charms for the border. solution….decide that it is big enough without the pieced border. clover.jpg

the 2nd project i found i did not bring enough muslin sashing strips. oh for crying in the soup. so i pouted about and was generally cranky until i put it away.

the 3rd project came off like a dream. all parts present and accounted for.pinwheel.jpg

i got started on my 4th project and even made a few ATC’s.butterflies.jpg

fine…i’ll go unpack and take some photos of the projects for ya. talk amongst yourselves while i do that.

there was a cowboy type theme for the retreat. nelson provided us with cowboy hats, sheriff stars, 6 shooter cap guns and pistol stir sticks. we blasted through the door friday night and shot up the sewing room. a little while later, miss kitty made an appearance in a HOT purple floozy outfit. everyone loves a red head! here is miss kitty and a couple of cowboys (teri and lois).terisaralois.jpg

and i came home with 2 new tins. nelson (yeah, she gets the retreat award for MVP) found these delightful tins and filled them with all kinds of goodies…candies, mints, chapstick, dental floss, etc. and we were all treated to this tin from Heirloom Creations (the retreat sponsors) which was filled with sewing goodies.tins.jpg

all in all, i had a super time and can not wait to start thinking about next years retreat.Ā  2 projects done (check check), one almost done (che) and one in progress.Ā  yea me.

I like the tins! Almost as much as your projects … I like the dark project the best. But then, I’m just dark and dastardly me thinks. HA

Your retreat sounds like a blast! And I love the tops. I especially like the theme – can I steal it for our guild’s retreat this summer?
