on december 14, 1998, i left home for work at 6:15 am and i didn’t step foot back in the house for 6 weeks. our daughter crystal was in a serious car accident. she was ambulanced to a hospital in brookings and then helicoptered to a hospital in sioux falls and then airplaned to mayo clinic in rochester.

some things are so very clear and engraved in my mind. some things i just don’t remember.

some things we can even laugh about now. some things still make me cry. some things make me wonder what if.

and some things are just miracles.

on december 24th, crystal came out of a coma, smiled her crooked smile, waved and said “hi dad”.

miracles.
